Preferred Label : RPSA wt Allele;
NCIt synonyms : LAMR1; LAMBR; LRP; 67LR; LAMR1 Gene; p40; 37LRP; Ribosomal Protein SA wt Allele; Laminin Receptor-1, 40S Ribosomal Protein SA Gene; Laminin Receptor 1 (Ribosomal Protein SA, 67kD) Gene; LAMR1 wt Allele; Laminin Receptor 1 (67kD, Ribosomal Protein SA) Gene;
NCIt definition : Human RPSA wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 3p22.2 and is approximately
6 kb in length. This allele, which encodes 40S ribosomal protein SA, plays a role
in a variety of biological processes that are mediated by interactions with cell surface
receptors.;
NCIt note : The 5.7-kb human LAMR1 Gene (Non-Integrin Family, S2P Family) at 3p21.3 contains a
promoter with 4 Sp1 sites, multiple TSS, and seven exons that yield a 1.2-kb transcript
encoding a conserved 295-amino acid 37-kD multifunctional protein with a negative
C-terminal segment, amphipathic alpha-helices, and N-glycosylation sites. GNRH2 or
GNRH1 trigger transcription. GC-rich intron 1 contains 5 Sp1 sites, intron 3 contains
2 Alu sequences, and intron 4 contains snRNA E2. Multiple retropositional pseudogenes
exist; 16-21 copies per human or mouse haploid genome. Identical to 40S Ribosomal
Protein SA, the encoded heterodimeric 67-kD Laminin Receptor-1 precursor is involved
in translation and cell adhesion, differentiation, migration, signaling, neurite outgrowth,
and metastasis. Gene expression in cancer cells correlates with invasive/metastatic
phenotype.;
