The PTK6 gene is typically overexpressed in breast tumors.;

NCIt note : Overexpression of the PTK6 gene in mammary epithelial cells causes cellular sensitivity to epidermal growth factor and the acquisition of a partially-transformed phenotype. PTK6 gene expression is inducible in normal T-cells whereas the activated form of tyrosine-protein kinase 6 protein is constitutively expressed in malignant B- and T-cells.;
