NCIt definition : Human MATK wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 19p13.3 and is approximately
24 kb in length. This allele, which encodes megakaryocyte-associated tyrosine-protein
kinase protein, plays a role in the inactivation of Src-family kinases.;
NCIt note : The MATK gene is expressed at high levels in megakaryocytes and lower levels in adult
brain. This gene undergoes alternative splicing to yield three transcript variants
and three corresponding protein isoforms. Megakaryocyte-associated tyrosine-protein
kinase protein decreases CXCR4-mediated breast cancer cell motility and migration
via down-regulation of this chemokine receptor gene.;
