Preferred Label : CCL13 wt Allele;

NCIt synonyms : NCC-1; NCC1; SCYL1; MCP-4; CKb10; Chemokine (C-C Motif) Ligand 13 wt Allele; SCYA13; MGC17134; Small Inducible Cytokine Subfamily A (Cys-Cys), Member 13 Gene; MCP4; Small Inducible Cytokine Subfamily A, Member 13 Gene; Chemokine, CC Motif, Ligand 13 Gene;

NCIt definition : Human CCL13 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 17q11.2 and is approximately 2 kb in length. This allele, which encodes C-C motif chemokine 13 protein, plays a role in immune cell chemotaxis and signal transduction. CCL13 allelic variants may also be involved in atherosclerosis.;

NCIt note : CCL13 is induced by IL-1 and TNF-alpha and widely expressed. The cytokine encoded by this gene displays chemotactic activity for monocytes, lymphocytes, basophils and eosinophils, but not neutrophils. This chemokine plays a role in accumulation of leukocytes during inflammation. It may also be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during artherosclerosis. This gene stimulates eosinophil to signal through CCR2B and CCR3 receptors and is involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes.;
