" /> Nuclear Mitotic Apparatus Protein 1 - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Nuclear Mitotic Apparatus Protein 1;

NCIt synonyms : NUMA; NUMA1; SP-H Antigen; NuMA Protein; Nuclear Matrix Protein-22; NMP-22; Nuclear Mitotic Apparatus Protein-1;

NCIt definition : Nuclear mitotic apparatus protein 1 (2115 aa, 238 kDa) is encoded by the human NUMA1 gene. This protein may play a role in the formation of the mitotic spindle.;

NCIt note : Nuclear Mitotic Apparatus Protein 1 is a structural component of the nucleus containing the largest known protein coiled-coil region, present throughout the interphase nucleus, and localized to the mitotic spindle apparatus. Required for organizing mitotic spindle poles, NUMA1 also appears to have a role in nuclear reassembly in late mitosis. NUMA C-terminal region specifically interacts with nuclear transport factor Importin-beta, which inhibits microtubule aster assembly.;
