NCIt definition : C-terminal-binding protein 2 (445 aa, 49 kDa) is encoded by the human CTBP2 gene.
This protein plays a role in the downregulation of both transcription and cell proliferation.;
NCIt note : C-terminal-binding protein 2 is produced as 2 distinct isoforms. Isoform 1 is a transcriptional
repressor that is involved in brown adipose cell differentiation while isoform 2 is
a major component of specialized synapses known as synaptic ribbons. Both proteins
contain a NAD binding domain similar to NAD -dependent 2-hydroxyacid dehydrogenases.
