NCIt definition : A fusion gene that results from a chromosomal translocation, t(4;14)(p16;q32), which juxtaposes the enhancer sequences for the mu-constant region from the immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) gene locus upstream of exon 3, 4 or 5 of the NSD2 gene. This rearrangement is associated with multiple myeloma and monoclonal gammopathy of uncertain significance.;

NCIt note : This fusion results in overexpression of the either full-length or N-terminally truncated forms of the histone-lysine N-methyltransferase NSD2 protein. Expression of the truncated protein may be associated with a poorer clinical outcome.;
