" /> Ornithine Aminotransferase, Mitochondrial - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Ornithine Aminotransferase, Mitochondrial;

NCIt synonyms : Ornithine Delta-Aminotransferase; Ornithine Keto Acid Aminotransferase; EC 2.6.1.13; Testicular Tissue Protein Li 130; Ornithine--Oxo-Acid Aminotransferase; Ornithine Aminotransferase; OAT; Ornithine-Oxo-Acid Aminotransferase;

NCIt definition : Ornithine aminotransferase, mitochondrial (439 aa, 49 kDa) is encoded by the human OAT gene. This protein plays a role in the reversible conversion of L-ornithine and 2-oxoglutarate to L-glutamate semialdehyde and L-glutamate.;

NCIt note : Ornithine aminotransferase, mitochondrial is proteolytically processed in a tissue-specific manner. Removal of the transit peptide via cleavage between alanine-25 and threonine-26 yields the hepatic form, while removal via cleavage between glutamine-35 and glycine-36 yields the renal form. (UniProt);
