NCIt definition : A bispecific antibody directed against both the tumor-associated antigen (TAA) tetraspanin-8
(TSPAN8) and the T-cell surface antigen CD3, with potential immunostimulating and
antineoplastic activities. Upon administration, anti-TSPAN8/anti-CD3 bispecific antibody
ASP2074 binds to both TSPAN8 expressed on tumor cells and CD3 expressed on T-cells.
This results in the cross-linking of T-cells and tumor cells, and induces a cytotoxic
T-lymphocyte (CTL) response against TSPAN8-expressing tumor cells. TSPAN8, a member
of the tetraspanin superfamily of proteins, is overexpressed on a variety of tumor
cells and associated with tumor cell growth, angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis.;
