NCIt definition : A glycosylation engineered recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the
extracellular dimerization domain (subdomain II) of the tumor-associated antigen (TAA)
and tyrosine kinase receptor epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2; ErbB2; HER-2),
with potential antineoplastic activity. Upon administration, anti-HER2 monoclonal
antibody BAT1006 targets and binds to HER2 on tumor cells, thereby blocking HER2-mediated
signaling. This may inhibit the proliferation of HER2-expressing tumor cells. In addition,
BAT1006 induces antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC). HER2, overexpressed
on a variety of tumor cell types, plays an important role in tumor cell proliferation,
differentiation and survival.;
