" /> MyoD Family Inhibitor Domain-Containing Protein - CISMeF

Preferred Label : MyoD Family Inhibitor Domain-Containing Protein;

NCIt synonyms : MyoD Family Inhibitor Domain Containing; IMFA Domain-Containing Protein; I-Mfa Domain-Containing Protein; hIC; MDFIC;

NCIt definition : MyoD family inhibitor domain-containing protein (246 aa, 26 kDa) is encoded by the human MDFIC gene. This protein is involved in transcriptional modulation through transcription factor binding, which includes the retention of of Zic family proteins in the cytoplasm.;

NCIt note : 2 isoforms produced by alternative initiation have been observed for MyoD family inhibitor domain-containing protein. The UniProt canonical isoform is located in the cytoplasm and is called p32 (isoform 2) and another form is called p40 (isoform 1). p40 is a minor isoform that initiates from a GTG codon and contains a nucleolar localization signal at positions 45-63.
