NCIt definition : A fusion protein encoded by the ZBTB16/RARA fusion gene. This protein is comprised
of the N-terminal POZ domain and two of the nine zinc fingers of zinc finger and BTB
domain-containing protein 16 fused to the C-terminal DNA and ligand binding domains
of the retinoic acid receptor alpha protein.;
NCIt note : Due to alternative splicing of the ZBTB16 gene, two forms of the ZBTB16/RARA fusion
protein can be detected: ZBTB16-RARA Isoform A (735 amino acids, 81 kDa) is composed
of the N-terminal part of zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 16 including
POZ domain and two of the nine zinc fingers, fused to the DNA and ligand binding domains
of the retinoic acid receptor alpha protein; ZBTB16-RARA Isoform B (858 amino acids,
93 kDa) differs from Isoform A by the inclusion of a 123 amino acid proline-rich region
from zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 16. (Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics
