" /> N6-Adenosine-Methyltransferase Catalytic Subunit - CISMeF

Preferred Label : N6-Adenosine-Methyltransferase Catalytic Subunit;

NCIt synonyms : Methyltransferase-Like Protein 3; MT-A70; N6-Adenosine-Methyltransferase 70 kDa Subunit; METTL3; hMETTL3; EC 2.1.1.348;

NCIt definition : N6-adenosine-methyltransferase catalytic subunit (580 aa, 64 kDa) is encoded by the human METTL3 gene. This protein is involved in RNA methyltransferase activity.;

NCIt note : N6-adenosine-methyltransferase catalytic subunit forms a heterodimer with N6-adenosine-methyltransferase non-catalytic subunit (METTL14), which is known as the N6-methyltransferase complex. This complex methylates adenosine residues at the N6 position of the 5'-[AG]GAC-3' consensus site found in some mRNAs. Methylation of this site regulates mRNA stability, processing, translation efficiency and editing. (UniProt);
