" /> Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 2 - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor 2;

NCIt synonyms : SERPINB2; Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor Type II; PLANH2; Placental Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor; Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-2; Serine or Cysteine Proteinase Inhibitor Clade B Member 2; Urokinase Inhibitor; Monocyte Arg-Serpin; Serpin B2; PAI-2; Arginine-Serpin; PAI2;

NCIt definition : Plasminogen activator inhibitor 2 (415 aa, 47 kDa) is encoded by the human SERPINB2 gene. This protein plays a role in the modulation of both plasmin activation and apoptosis.;

NCIt note : Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-2 is a member of the serpin superfamily that inhibits both tissue-type and urokinase-type plasminogen activators. PAI2 (monocyte Arg-serpin) also belongs to the serine protease subfamily in which target specificity is determined by an Arg residue at its reactive center: Met/Val for elastase, Leu for kinase, and Arg for thrombin. PAI2 is thought to regulate plasminogen activation in extravascular compartments and high levels are found in keratinocytes, monocytes, and the trophoblast. (from OMIM 173390);
