Preferred Label : SERF1B wt Allele;

NCIt synonyms : Small EDRK-Rich Factor 1B (Centromeric) Gene; Small EDRK-Rich Factor 1B wt Allele; h4F5; FAM2B; H4F5C; SMAM1; SERF1;

NCIt definition : Human SERF1B wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 5q13.2 and is approximately 18 kb in length. This allele, which encodes small EDRK-rich factor 1 protein, may be involved in the development of the spinal cord and spinal column.;

NCIt note : The SERF1B gene is part of a 500 kb inverted duplication on chromosome 5q13. SERF1B is centromeric to an identical copy of this gene SERF1A. This chromosomal region contains at least four genes and repetitive elements which make it prone to rearrangements and deletions. The repetitive nature of this region makes it difficult to determine both its organization and whether mRNA transcripts arise from the SERF1A or SERF1B gene. (EntrezGene);
