NCIt definition : Natriuretic peptides A (153 aa, 17 kDa) is encoded by the human NPPA gene. This protein
is involved in uterine artery remodeling, trophoblast invasion, natriuresis, diuresis,
and vasodilation.;
NCIt note : Natriuretic peptides A is cleaved on the C-terminal side of amino acid 123 by atrial
natriuretic peptide-converting enzyme (Corin), which releases the 28 amino acid active
hormone atrial natriuretic factor (ANF; atrionatriuretic factor, atriopeptin, atrial
natriuretic peptide; ANP; cardionatrin). ANF can be cleaved by macrophage metalloelastase
(MME), which promotes degradation of the hormone. (UniProt);
