NCIt definition : G1/S-specific cyclin-D1b is encoded by the human CCND1 gene. This protein may play
a role in the promotion of tumor cell invasiveness and anchorage-independent growth.;
NCIt note : G1/S-specific cyclin-D1b is an isoform of G1/S-specific cyclin-D1 that is missing
the amino acids encoded by exon 5 because of a genetic variant that causes splicing
failure at the exon-4/intron-4 boundary of the CCND1 gene. The deleted region includes
the regulatory threonine at position 286, which in the wild-type protein can be phosphorylated
by mitogen activated protein kinases to induce the ubiqutination and degradation of
the protein.;
