IntroductionTo present an unusual agent responsible for a case of keratitis in a female hydrogel contact lens wearer.Objectifs and MethodsA 16 year old immunocompetent girl, hydrogel contact lens wearer, presented with red eye. The patient reported red eye with blurred vision and pain from the previous day. In the central cornea, two stromal lesions were found surrounded by an infiltrate. Corneal scrapings, smears, the lenses and their box as well as the cleansing solutions were sent to the bacteriology unit for analysis.ResultatsThe agent isolated wasComamonas acidovorans, a species ofPseudomonas. The patient was treated with local ciprofloxacin, tobramycin and hexamidine diisetionate 0, 1% with remission of the case.DiscussionComamonas acidovoransisa ubiquitous gram-negative rod. It is usually considered nonpathogenic. Keratitis caused byComamonas acidovoransin immunocompetent patients has been rarely reported in the literature.ConclusionCultures and sensitivity studies should always be performed in contact lenses wearers.Comamonas acidovoransshould be considered as a possible keratitis agent in immunocompetent patients.
