As of 1995, Sudan had a population of 28.1 million governed by a military, Islamic regime. 1994 gross national product and per capita income were, respectively, $5.9 billion and $250. In 1994, Sudan owed $18 billion, then being serviced at $1.3 billion. For the same year, Sudan exported $609 million in goods and services and imported $2.209 billion. As of 1995, the population was growing in size by 2.7% annually.
