Recent declines in fertility in Reunion are analyzed. It is noted that the reproduction rate has declined by about 50 percent in only a decade. The author suggests that this rapid change is due to two factors, namely, a change in family models and an effective family planning policy. An analysis of the factors that have led to the success of the family planning program is provided. (summary in ENG)
