An analysis of the determinants of both internal and international Spanish labor migration is presented. The role that this migration plays in the evolution of the economy of Spain, as well as in the integration of the Spanish economy into the world economy as a whole is also considered. The European-oriented migration pattern that has evolved for a significant proportion of the Spanish labor force is seen to have survived economic crises, the rise of unemployment, and the development of restrictive policies.
