Variations in household size and structure among the rural peoples of south Togo are examined using data collected in 1976. The relationship of such variations to the socio-demographic characteristics of heads of households and to the characteristics of the various ethnic groups is assessed. Factor analysis is used to identify the two main components of households, namely, the nuclear core and additional family members. Significant differences in household size and composition among these various populations are noted. (summary in ENG, SPA)
