Induced abortion always entails a number of psychological side effects, even in women who are strongly motivated in favor of it. It is extremely difficult to help in such cases, and, ultimately, it is up to the woman herself to overcome any emotional problem. From the point of view of the physician who performs the abortion, the act itself is a destructive one, an aggression without possibility of reparation. It is a procedure which no doctor enjoys performing, even if wanted by the patient, and done with the knowledge of helping her.
