Demographic characteristics of residents of the Netherlands who are of Surinamese or Antillean origin are examined using official data. The size of these migrant groups, age and sex distribution, fertility, mortality, nuptiality, and international migration rates are discussed for the period 1971-1986. Comparisons are made with demographic indicators for the total population of the Netherlands. (SUMMARY IN ENG)
