Auteurs : Cruise O'brien RDate 1979 Juillet-Septembre, Vol 20, Num 79, pp 449-63Revue : Revue tiers-mondeType de publication : article de périodique; This article describes how the sociocultural and sociopolitical systems are trying to make developing countries resemble more and more the industrial countries. In the field of mass media, international organizations have gained increasing power to sell the techniques and develop advertising and sales volume for American entertainment programs. However the problems of development have been studied as if each country, each social change process were absolutely isolated from outside influences and from integration to the mass media. Local studies on the development and use of the medias in various countries could provide important material for a more complete understanding of the sociocultural processes on an international basis.
