Definition : Pathology.—A pneumatocele is a thin-walled, gas-filled space in the lung. It is most
frequently caused by acute pneumonia, trauma, or aspiration of hydrocarbon fluid and
is usually transient. The mechanism is believed to be a combination of parenchymal
