Definition : The 9th cranial nerve. The glossopharyngeal nerve is a mixed motor and sensory nerve;

fibers to the parotid glands, general and taste afferents from the posterior third
of the tongue, the nasopharynx, and the palate, and afferents from baroreceptors and
