NCIt definition : A fusion gene that results from a chromosomal translocation t(9;11)(p22;q23) which
fuses the 5' half of the KMT2A gene to the 3' end of the MLLT3 gene. This rearrangement
is associated with acute lymphocytic leukemia and other leukemia types.;
NCIt note : The presence of this fusion gene is associated with a better prognosis for primary
leukemia as compared to other 11q23 fusions but it indicates a poor prognosis for
secondary cases. (Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology);
