NCIt definition : Human HMGN2P46 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 15q21.1 and is approximately 46 kb in length. This allele, which encodes Dresden prostate carcinoma protein 2, may play a role in the prostate. Aberrant elevated expression is associated with prostate carcinoma.;

NCIt note : Both HGNC and EntrezGene categorize the HMGN2P46 gene as a pseudogene; which implies that no protein product is produced. However, there is a UniProt entry.; Expression of the HMGN2P46 gene was detected at extremely high levels in normal prostate and prostate carcinoma tissue. Much lower levels ( 2000 fold difference) of gene expression were observed in other tissues. (Int J Cancer. 2004;109:882-92.);
