NCIt definition : Human SEPTIN6 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of Xq24 and is approximately
80 kb in length. This allele, which encodes septin-6 protein, plays a role in the
regulation of cytoskeletal remodeling. Chromosomal rearrangements of this gene and
the MLL gene are associated with acute myelogenous leukemia.;
NCIt note : Chromosomal rearrangements of 11q23 and Xq24 resulting in MLL-SEPT6 fusions are often
complex and sometimes cryptic being associated with 11q insertions. (Atlas of Genetics
and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology);
