NCIt definition : A species of aerobic, Gram positive, rod shaped bacterium assigned to the phylum Actinobacteria. This species is acid fast, nonmotile, is unable to grow well in glycerol agar, produces pigment and has a slower growth rate than Mycobacterium fortuitum. M. flavescens is a commensal organism of the respiratory tract and is not associated with clinical disease.;
