NCIt definition : A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram negative, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is motile by peritrichous flagella, catalase and indole positive, oxidase negative, does not ferment dulcitol and cannot grow on cefsulodin irgasan novobiocin agar in culture. K. cryocrescens is normally found in milk, water, sewage, soil and sputum, and is an opportunistic pathogen in the hospital setting.;
