This species is motile using a peritrichous flagella, non-spore forming, oxidase negative, catalase positive, ferments sugar, reduces nitrate, and hydrolyzes esculin. B. agrestis is commensal in the throat and pathogenic in immunocompromised individuals with wound infections or appendicitis.;
