Preferred Label : Odetiglucan;
NCIt synonyms : Poly-(1-6)-beta-glucotriosyl-(1-3)-beta-glucopyranose Beta-glucan; PGG Beta-Glucan;
NCIt definition : An injectable formulation of the polysaccharide beta-1,3/1,6 glucan derived from the
cell wall of a strain from the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and pathogen-associated
molecular pattern (PAMP) molecule, with potential immunomodulating and antineoplastic
activities. Upon administration, odetiglucan binds to innate immune effector cells
through complement receptor 3 (CR3) and Fc gamma receptor IIA (FcgammaIIA; CD32A),
thereby activating innate immune cells and enabling direct killing of tumor cells.
In addition, odetiglucan repolarizes the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment
(TME), shifts the suppressive M2-state macrophages to a more M1 pro-inflammatory state,
activates the maturation of antigen presenting cells (APCs), enables CD4 and CD8 T-cell
expansion, and increases production of certain anti-tumor cytokines, such as interferon
gamma (IFNg). Altogether, this induces and enhances anti-tumor immune responses.;
