The Hartley Guinea Pig has a white coat color (acromelanic albino) and red eyes and requires a nutritional source of vitamin C to sustain normal function. The Hartley guinea pig is used as an animal model for studying human diseases and toxins harmful to man, as well as the development of serums and vaccines.;
