Historically defined as bone marrow (BM) cellularity 25% (or 50% if 30% of BM is
hematopoietic cells), and two or more of the following: absolute neutrophil count
of 500; platelet count of 20,000; or a corrected reticulocyte count of 1%. Absence
of cytogenetic abnormalities associated with myelodysplastic syndrome or malignancy
must be ruled out prior to diagnosis.;
