This allele, which encodes cancer/testis antigen 1B protein, may play a role in both germ cell maturation and immune responsiveness. Aberrant expression of the gene is associated with many cancers.;

NCIt note : Sequence analysis demonstrated that the CTAG1A gene is an identical copy of the CTAG1B gene both are located in the vicinity of Xq28. The CTAG1A sequence lies in the opposite orientation of and is centromeric to the CTAG1B gene. (OMIM);
