NCIt definition : Human ANP32CP wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 4q32.3 and is approximately 1 kb in length. This allele, which encodes putative uncharacterized protein ANP32CP, may play a role in tumorigenesis for several cancers.;

NCIt note : ANP32C lacks introns and is a tumor suppressor that can inhibit several types of cancers, including prostate and breast cancers. Amino acids 150-174 of the gene product are responsible for its tumor suppressor function and are a region of divergence with PP32R1. Alternative use of PP32, PP32R1, and PP32R2 may modulate the oncogenic potential of human prostate cancer.; HGNC and EntrezGene catagorize this gene as a pseudogene; however, a putative protein product does exist in UniProt.;
