The RNR1 gene product is a 45S ribosomal RNA that is the precursor for the three RNA
components of the ribosome complex (18S, 5.8S, and 28S RNA). There are 4 other ribosomal
RNA precursor clusters RNR2 (14p12), RNR3 (15p12), RNR4 (21p12) and RNR5 (22p12).
