NCIt definition : Human KNG1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 3q27 and is approximately
27 kb in length. This allele, which encodes kininogen-1 protein, plays a role in the
blood coagulation pathway. Mutation or deletion of the wild type allele can result
in aberrations in blood coagulation, fibrin clot resolution and inflammatory responses.;
NCIt note : KNG1 encodes two proteins generated by alternative splicing called high molecular
weight kininogen and low molecular weight kininogen, respectively. Proteolytic cleavage
of high molecular weight kininogen by plasma kallikrein releases the vasoactive peptide
bradykinin, and two-chain high molecular weight kininogen protein.;
