in length. This allele, which encodes MAGUK p55 subfamily member 3 protein, is involved
in coupling the cytoskeleton to the cell membrane and plays a putative role in signal
transduction.;
NCIt note : MAGUK p55 subfamily member 3 protein directly associates with tumor suppressor in
lung cancer-1, a protein involved in cell-cell adhesion. In the mouse, the protein
encoded by MPP3 has been suggested to play a role in photoreceptor polarity. Based
on mouse data, the MPP3 gene has also been proposed to be a functional candidate gene
for inherited retinopathies.;
