NCIt definition : Human TXN wild-type allele is located within 9q31 and is approximately 12 kb in length.
This allele, which encodes thioredoxin protein, is involved in the reduction of numerous
biological substrates via dithiol-disulfide exchange reactions. TXN gene expression
is elevated in several types of cancer such as colorectal, gastric and lung cancers.;
NCIt note : TXN gene expression is induced by oxidative stress. Overexpression of this gene is
associated with both increased proliferation and survival of cancer cells.;
