belongs to the KOC (K homology domain containing protein over-expressed in cancer)
family of proteins. As an oncofetal protein, L523S is normally expressed in early
embryonic tissues and certain normal adult tissues such as colon, fallopian tube,
gall bladder, and ovary tissues but may be overexpressed in squamous cell cancers
of the lung.;
