" /> Myosin Light Chain Kinase, Smooth Muscle - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Myosin Light Chain Kinase, Smooth Muscle;

NCIt synonyms : MYLK; Myosin, Light Polypeptide Kinase; MLCK; Myosin Light Chain Kinase, Smooth Muscle and Non-Muscle Isozymes; MLC Kinase; EC 2.7.1.117; Myosin Light Chain Kinase; smMLCK; Telokin; Kinase-Related Protein; EC 2.7.11.18; KRP; Myosin Light Polypeptide Kinase;

NCIt definition : Myosin light chain kinase, smooth muscle (1914 aa, 211 kDa) is encoded by the human MYLK gene. This protein plays a role in both myosin phosphorylation and smooth muscle cell contraction.;

NCIt note : Telokin, a small protein identical in sequence to the C terminus of myosin light chain kinase, is expressed in smooth muscle and functions to stabilize unphosphorylated myosin filaments is transcribed from the MYLK gene using a separate promoter in an intron in the 3' region.;
