Alternative definition : MMHCC: A tumor composed of a prominent spindle cell population with or without an
atypical epithelial component. These tumors are identified by immunohistochemical
staining for cytokeratin, smooth muscle actin and vimentin. EMT tumors are more frequent
in some GEM models than others (ILK1 and GSK3), frequently do not express the transgenic
oncogene and are associated with up regulation of snail or slug. These tumors have
been classified in the past as fibrosarcomas, carcinosarcomas, or metaplastic carcinomas.
However, they deserve a distinctive taxonomic category.;
