" /> Epithelial Mesenchymal Transition Tumor of the Mouse Mammary Gland - CISMeF

Preferred Label : Epithelial Mesenchymal Transition Tumor of the Mouse Mammary Gland;

Alternative definition : MMHCC: A tumor composed of a prominent spindle cell population with or without an atypical epithelial component. These tumors are identified by immunohistochemical staining for cytokeratin, smooth muscle actin and vimentin. EMT tumors are more frequent in some GEM models than others (ILK1 and GSK3), frequently do not express the transgenic oncogene and are associated with up regulation of snail or slug. These tumors have been classified in the past as fibrosarcomas, carcinosarcomas, or metaplastic carcinomas. However, they deserve a distinctive taxonomic category.;
