Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Urate oxidase catalyzes the oxidation of uric acid to the
excretable metabolite allantoin, a molecule that is 5-10 times more water-soluble
than uric acid. An enzyme that occurs endogenously in most mammals, urate oxidase
