Alternative definition : MMHCC: Low-grade glial neoplasm characterized by fibrillary or gemistocytic astrocytic differentiation, slow growth, and diffuse infiltration of neighboring brain structures. Low to inapparent mitotic activity, and the absence of vascular proliferation and tumor necrosis differentiate this neoplasm from the higher grade lesions: anaplastic astrocytoma, and glioblastoma. Normal and neoplastic astrocytes express GFAP (glial fibrillary acid protein).;
