NCIt definition : C-C motif chemokine 4 (92 aa, 10 kDa) is encoded by the human CCL4 gene. This protein is involved in both the regulation of neutrophil and monocyte chemotaxis and the inhibition of HIV binding to C-C chemokine receptor type 5.;

NCIt note : C-C motif chemokine 4 is processed to form MIP-1-beta(3-69). The active form of the chemokine is either a homodimer or a heterodimer comprised of MIP-1-alpha(4-69) and MIP-1-beta(3-69). (UniProt); MIP-1 beta is induced rapidly after T-cell activation with phytohemagglutinin, B-cell activation with Staphylococcus aureus, and monocyte activation with lipopolysaccharide.;
