Preferred Label : Hypochlorous Acid-containing Wound Spray APR-TD011;
NCIt synonyms : Nexodyn AOS; Topical Solution APR-TD011; Nexodyn AcidOxidizing Solution;
NCIt definition : A sprayable topical formulation composed of a hypotonic acid-oxidizing solution containing
the antimicrobial agent hypochlorous acid (HClO), with potential wound cleaning, wound
healing and antimicrobial activity in certain skin conditions, such as epidermolysis
bullosa (EB). Upon administration of the APR-TD011 spray to the affected area(s),
HClO kills bacteria. The solution, having a low pH and high oxidation-reduction potential
(ORP), changes the microbiome and creates a wound microenvironment that may be favorable
to wound healing, may prevent skin infection, and may decrease inflammation by inhibiting
the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kB) pro-inflammatory pathway and by inactivating matrix
metalloproteases (MMPs). This may also reduce itching and pain and increase cell growth,
thereby further accelerating wound healing.;
