NCIt definition : A finding of extremely low concentrations of testosterone in a sample following androgen suppression therapy or orchiectomy.;

NCIt note : The upper threshold castration levels of testosterone was originally defined as below 50 ng/dL or below 20 ng/dL (Rev Urol. 2009; 11:52-60 and Urol Oncol. 2014; 32:38.e17-38.e28.) but recent studies have seen improved outcomes for patients with substantially lower testosterone levels (less than 0.7 nmol/L or less than or equal to 1 ng/dL) or achieving 90% or greater reduction of testosterone following surgical or chemical castration.
